MtW: Ruby Cler
I am a I I am a Woodturner who currently resides in Windsor, Ontario Canada. I do a variety of forms of woodturning – a lot of commercial work, as much creative work as possible, and I teach all levels of students. I have skills in other art forms, such as painting and carving, which I try to bring into my work and which naturally seem to influence my pieces.
My career in turning began in 1972, when I purchased my first lathe for $100. Over the course of years since, I have studied and been influenced by such turners as Allan and Stuart Batty, Stuart Mortimer, Jean Francois Escoulen, Alain Mailland, Jean Claude Charpignon, Hans Weisflogg. Eli Avisera, Malcolm Tibbets, Ray Keys, Dick Sing, David Springett, Johannes Michelson, Chris Stott, Mike Mahonney, Jimmy Clewes, Betty Scarpino, Marilyn Campbell and many, many others. To all of them, I extend my sincere thanks for being willing to share their knowledge.
