Hello everyone

We hope you are all safe and well. It is good to see some events taking place and people getting out and about more. It’s also great to see crafts people getting back to craft fairs, exhibits and shows. Rules and regulations around social distancing is making it even harder work for all concerned at these events, but it’s a step in the right direction.

IRD’s,(Interactive Remote Demonstrations), seem to be going from strength to strength. From discussions with other woodturners and friends around the world, it seems that some demonstrators would prefer to present their demonstrations virtually rather than travel. I think long term the clubs will have great opportunities to have demonstrator’s from all over the world at a fraction of the cost when they can deliver their presentations remotely. But, of course the social interaction at symposiums and club meetings is an added bonus. Friends from far and wide that have not met from one event to another get an opportunity to catch up.

Meet the Woodturner is still in great demand, and question that we receive regularly is, will we keep it going. The simple answer is yes. Or at least for as long as possible. All of our guests have given so freely of their time and information to help make these meetings the success that they are. We are always grateful for the feedback we receive and the suggestions for future guests.
