In this demo Pat will take you through how he adds a some surface decorations with assorted gears and cogs, powertex and of course colour. The piece is also shaped with a router jig to achieve this unique form.

Wind, fire and water

The Turner family farmed crops and sheep in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, just like generations of Turners before them. Working the land was tough: sparse rainfall, soil erosion, wind and fire. Neil found refuge is his woodturning workshop. Here he explored these same elements: wind, fire and water. He looked for the quiet ripples eroded in soil by wind, the delicate eddies left by water, and the swirling lick of flames.

• On site demonstrations include, NorthEastern Woodworking Association, DelVal Woodturners, New Jersey Woodturners, Atlantic Shore Woodturners, Hudson Valley Woodturners, Long Island Woodturners.

Glenn Lucas Interview:

Glenn Lucas has an international reputation for his proficiency at the lathe and his ability to pass on to students, the skills and knowledge he has gained. He balances his production of classic bowls turned from native Irish wood (set up in 1995), with an extensive teaching programme run from his Co Carlow ‘Woodturning Study Centre’ (since 2005).

Art Liestman Interview:

I'm a wood artist living in Coquitlam, British Columbia. My work has been seen in numerous exhibitions and galleries across North America. I have demonstrated at many national and regional symposia, as well as for dozens of local woodturning clubs. I have also taught week long courses at the John C. Campbell Folk School, the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and Ecole Escoulen, as well as numerous single day classes for local clubs.
